High e string sounds like a sitar

I started noticing that the high E string when plucked open, as the note faded I could hear a sort of "ringing in the ears" sound lingering. I didn't really hear it on other open strings, and not when fretted. Web14 de out. de 2012 · The high E string on my Strat sucks. It frets out all the way up the neck, every fret. Not totally dead fretting out but with enough of a slight buzzing to sound like a sitar, especially when using distortion. I have raised it at the bridge to the point of silliness and tried different types of string trees or none at all.

In order to trouble shoot this problem I stuck the cut of e-string in there along with the e-string and the sitar-sound disappeard. any suggestions how I could fix this?
